Well. Now it's getting steamy.

I've just read six paragraphs in a row on Australian animals, and as a short story writer I now understand why I will likely never write a 560-page epic spanning four generations. 😂

Um, there is no way someone who is not holding keys could quickly lock a door from the outside. Really careless, some of these moments.

Today while listening alone in my car, I shouted, "Ohmigod, stop defining things!" Really grating on me.

God, this book is tedious. I just read a 1.5 page chapter that was basically a summary of time before jumping three years into the future. And no, it still doesn't read like a girl's voice in the slightest.

The writing in this seems great, but the narrator for the audiobook is... not. I'll have to pick up the regular book instead.

Am on disc 18 of 28, I think. Don't think I'll be able to get to it all before I have to return this to the library. Holy smokes, this thing is long.

I'm really enjoying this book, but OMG does every chapter need to end with an attempt at a cliffhanger? Enough already.

"Mary stand on the lawn before the house, surrounded by green grass and an ocean of blue and all of the space in the world." An ocean of blue... in Missouri. Not a sky of blue. An ocean. In Missouri. Um...what?

Character says: "A person's color don't matter to me. I never gave a tinker's damn for it one way or the other." I say, "Well, of course it doesn't; you're blind!" Way to state the obvious...

SO MANY dippers of water in this book. OMG.

All I want to do is read this book and make snarky comments on Post-it notes about Stockholm Syndrome, but no... these students have to keep logging in to ask me to proofread their essays. You'd think it was, like, finals week or something.

Thinking I may need to pick HSP's brain about her grad lecture on modern books inspired by the classics...

Hmm, maybe I should read Tom Sawyer as well as re-read Huck Finn...

Okay, getting into the groove of this now, I think. Definitely appreciating it more now that I'm thinking of it as a stream of consciousness book in which all the characters are overthinkers...just like most of the writers/artists I know. This is basically what life is like inside the heads of people I know.

Yes, I am reading a children's book I haven't read in 25+ years. No, it's not for my writing (it's for Natalie and Lucio's). And no, not a single fuck is being given.

Still taking me upwards of forever to read this. Am determined to finish, though.
