I am thoroughly enjoying this novel. It is a mix of 20th century political history seen through a family experiencing inter-generational change and adaptation.

Reading of this epic novel is currently on hold.

Listening to audiobook version. This story, this continuation of Larsson's oeuvre is outstanding.... gripping, instructive and adept.

Well written. Believable Characters. Edgy. Also, a bit grotesque, even disturbing. Still, not lightweight, and that's what I'm seeking in the crime fiction genre.

This is my second reading on the topic of Bitcoin and the individuals who are working with it. Jose Pasegliery of CNN Money has written a similar account of the rise of Bitcoin. Popper's book is easy to follow, and corroborates Pasegliery's account.

Enjoying it.

My wife grabbed this, and I am unable to finish it just yet.

As another read said, it is a book that demands attention over a longer period of time. Still working on it. Beautiful turns of phrase; she acknowledges the sweetest parts of human relationship.

Only go to chapter 2. Returned it to Library. Will likely open it again.

An elegy celebrating the learning and the struggle of individuals in community.

Gathering force. Fabulous prose in the form of a conversation and intimate memoir. Just like the dust jacket said: an unstoppable reflection and meditation on family and spirit. Nothing heavy handed...so gentle and uplifting.

Enjoying this. Looks at suffering and ways to embrace it. Repeatedly argues for an understanding of how happiness is NOT found in things outside, externally, but rather happiness is a 'state of mind' that can be cultivated. A refreshing set of literary connections to new voices.

As I said before, the first several chapters were dull. But, at this point in the narrative, the writer is about to be ordained into a Tibetan sect located in Switzerland. The book is a lot more fun...especially beginning with his resurrection from disaster and drug abuse in the foothills of the Himalayas. His story is more engaging, and he interweaves a lot of Buddhist-speak as he recounts his experience.

The personal history in the first couple of chapters has been tedious.. but his decision to journey to India is more compelling...

A book that cannot be read all in one sitting...it's a lot to take in all at once. A book to revisit.

Haven't read this for awhile...Connnecting to Glimpse After Glimpse

Discussing the illusion of permanence. Lots of philosophy here... valuable? Maybe.

The writer is loquacious, direct and offers an angle on the Buddhist concept of Mara and Siddhartha under the Bodi tree.

Working at this book slowly.

I'm on page 136. I am very impressed with the plot, the characters, the insider's struggle which is focused on Smale Calder, the outsider, and his snakes. Your uncle's language use is wonderful and sometimes somthing to marvel at, and I am not exaggerating. What's interesting is how valuable a simple story can be. It seems that if a plot gets too complicated....too many characters, too many subplots, too much

Looking at pieces of this as recommended by Tergar group.

Finding value in this book. enjoyed his logical exposition of the impermanence of all phenomena...including concepts and relationships. 'All phenomena are built of compounded things.'

I am reading this book, and have arrived at the first riveting plot event: where Smale Calder unbalances Father Savio's placid world. I like it a lot so far.
