Somewhat book related update but I did Diana Wynne Jones/Ghibli's Howl's moving castle inspired tattoo

Are there dumb reasons for re-reading something? Re-read because I'm running Greek mythology D&D campaign where events of Iliad are canon and I need to refresh my memory.

It's a glory hole

Yup, internet has ruined my brain because my first thought wasn't innocent thing that was described next.

I love Pynchon's writing but this book is overstaying it's welcome.

I hate when notes are at the back of the book instead of at the bottom of the page.

Don't forget the real business of war is buying and selling. The murdering and violence are self-policing, and can be entrusted to non-professionals.

Large format omnibus hardcovers are very pretty on bookshelf but holly shit are they impractical for any longer reading session.

So far I never read Pamuk's book I didn't like but I suppose there is a first time for everything.

Hopefully huge reading slump I been in is over so I can dive back into this.

As expected for Ursula Le Guin worldbuilding is superb. I can feel and smell this small place where story takes place.

Parts in the void are long and so different from the rest of the book even from genre perspective I occasionally forget what book am I reading and always get small shock when story returns to main timeline. Both segments are equally good though

I'm slowly progressing with this one but it's pure because of medium. Since it's e-book I can't carry it on hiking or biking trips and like physical book and can't use it during workout/cleaning/cooking like audiobook. But I do like it a lot and now that I have few days without any plans hopefully I will finish it.

SAME. Although to be fair my third cup of coffee is around 8-9 AM.

One thing Hamilton is really good at is introducing new concepts without focusing on them too much. Often authors have smart idea and get too eager to showcase them. Hamilton just puts them as background block in worldbuilding with spotlight shining on them when narrative calls for it.

I like the setting a lot so far. It's obviously inspired by Norse mythology (I mean it's in book description) but it still feels like it's doing its own thing.

Non-book related update:

Arcane season 2 holly freaking hell. I can already see that I will be obnoxious to my friends in next week or so until my hype starts wane. Now excuse me I have a gospel of our lord and savior, Ekko, to spread.

Writing reminds a bit of Ken Liu. If he had severe depression.

I know from reviews that this will be dark but I wasn't prepared for this level of pitch black. Extremely well written but dark AF.

I'm very close to DNF-ing this one despite the fact that I like the setting and characters (for the most part)

This has bit of China Mieville vibe.

The video showed a raccoon sitting up in a humanoid posture, legs splayed, a bib tied around its neck and a bowl of black cherries in its lap.

People call Rooney voice of generation which I think is bit of a BS but as someone who sent a video of chonky raccoon to my sister and red panda to my friend I feel my milenial culture is properly represented here.

This book is good. Very good.

So far this is my favorite Isabel Allende book so far and I do love Isabel Allende quite a bit.

I'm having unexpected struggles with this book since font is too tiny and I can't wear my glasses for a few months so reading this might take a while since I can only read it in short spurts before my eyes get tired.

Do I find this good? Yes

Do I find this fun? I'm not really sure.
