better, the issues I have with prose continue. I'm not so sure about the "part 2", it feels like the pacing up until now was solid with hints of what was coming sprinkled in. Then here's a very long chapter with quite a lot of new stuff.

I like a lot of the concepts and structure and dynamic here but the writing and prose and general execution? I keep editing it in my head, it just feels like it is a step off from what it could be.

How is there so much more to this nonsense.

how are there still more conversations of 'oh hey so basically here's X Y and Z key plot item and details you will need later'. still more new lore and sudden retcons. still more grim and oro acting like children.

this is.... ludicrous. what. what is going on with this worldbuilding. she's always made stuff up as she went each book but PLANETS and GALAXIES now. so much retconning. (SO. MUCH. RETCONNING. of stuff we literally learned last book!).

are fans like. happy. grim is acting like a child having a temper tamtrum. am i supposed to think that is hot?

Boy. this is................ dumb.
'you see there's a magical object no one has ever heard of or owned but which we know 100% as fact is THE MOST POWERFUL OBJECT IN THE UNIVERSE'.

what does that even mean. powerful in what way. you can just feel how much she is making up as she goes along, and how little meaning anything has because of that. nothing has weight because it's so arbitrary

grim is. so ridiculous. this is also the grossest kissing i have ever read

end of ORO. oh my god. this is so so so bad in a way that is new to the lightlark universe: it is worst if you actually like lightlark. oro is written so obnoxiously it utterly ruins his character. he pretty much stares straight at the reader at the end to declare "I will die before the end of the series and I am okay with this and Isla ending up with Grim. Don't worry".

Woof, oro comes off as just. so deeply unpleasant. weirdly obsessive, entitled, erratic emotionally (isn't his trait supposed to be about like, repressing all his emotions? hm). I'm sure at least grim's half will be so unpleasant I will forgive oro by the end, but rn I'm reading so much recaps of him and isla bickering and I wish death upon them all

I feel like the author isn't trying in the slighest, like. this is the most a book has felt like that to me and I've read skyshade

she just introduced, fought, and ended a war in.... 3 sentences. and then it's time for 3 chapters of grim fanservice, in the oro novel, because oro can't have SHIT in lightlark not even a story of his own

someone please. help her editors. bring them back to life.....

not only does this book not take place in reality, I think it might not have been written in it either

Ringing the changes: this story feels like a creative writing practice dribble, with an end that feels sudden — like the author knew it was time for an ending and quickly threw something together. Very eh.

Translation error: an alien tries to intervene in human history to stop them from becoming powerful, but in multiple timeliness is astonished to find humans are Just Plain Powerful. It's rather bland

Reality trip: omg alien crab romance is um. Um. Uhhhhh..... my thing. This was an increasingly funny story with a solid alien pov that I enjoyed a lot. It made the failure of the previous story rather surprising
Shrines of earth: ah. It's alright, but very basic. I see the joke in it, it's mildly amusing, but its a real 'sensible chuckle' of a story and nothing more
Black is beautiful: Dude The Fuck. Cmon.

Off to a bad start with the first story, Iron Chancellor. Big lot of nothing. I enjoy the retro futurism

The Comedian's Children— really enjoyed this one! Medusa had more Thoughts to Say but this was very solid and enjoyable. God reading weird old pulp is healing. I love having to reread paragraphs and look up words and think.
