Intriguing, well written and quite different to anything I’ve read.

A little slow to start, but only because what I expected to be happening wasn’t happening. The we get to the 69- year old double black belt nun. It’s not written as quirky or comedy, she’s not super human. She’s so real, just as you’d expect a nun who’s seen some shit to be. About now we’re hip deep in serious plot business.

Not what I excepted but excellent development and some good twists so far.

This is written in Jane’s POV, and it’s taking me a while to adjust. She’s all over the show in her thinking - and while my brain works like like I’ve discovered I don’t like hearing the adhd inner voice

enjoying the charcters, the plot and the writing style, but each chapter flits between differnt charcter views/settings and its not easy for my tired brain to keep track of thm all.

Argh. So much tedious description. And it’s quite possible the book was sponsored by Dr Pepper.

Its been a while since I’ve read an urban fantasy and I’m really enjoying this - great character development. Im particularly loving the police chief though, a very “Vîmes” character.
There’s quite a lot of backstory that’s hinted at but not revealed yet which is giving extra depth to the story without distracting from the main threads.

I still don’t know why I’m reading this. I keep expecting something exciting and dramatic to happen and it just doesn’t. So many rave reviews and I just want to see what the fuss is about.

Ok, this is slow going & im not enjoying any of the characters yet. In fact I have a feeling this is my second attempt to read this.

Book 9, and I’m still trying to adjust to reading something where your favourite characters are NOT mutilated and killed for kicks and where the bad guys get just punishments. Too many years of reading dystopian fantasy has obviously damaged my soul, this series has been a balm.

Wow. That was sobering.

Was mostly enjoying, but it's getting far too heavy on God now. May not finish :(

Adam isn't a bumbling idiot, he's presented as a realistic portrayal of someone who's been dumped in a very strange situation working it all out. Reminding me a little of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.

As someone who tends to read urban Fantasy with strong female leads (written from a female pov), I'm finding it endlessly fascinating reading from a male pov again, particularly when the competent/capable character is a silent/brooding woman.

cripes , this book jumps all over the show.

so youve got two parts to this book. the main plot and the plot of the story theyre reading together. The plot of the read story is every dreadful romance cliche ever written. im hoping our heroine points out how dreadful it is. must capture her or get a mistress indead

oh! i get it now. (but hes still a pompys pratt)

"The woman straightened and smiled as she turned. However, at the sight of Fleance, the smile vanished and she let out a piercing scream" I love the anticipation and build up that MAKES you go "oh, just one more chapter, then I'll go to bed".

Oh ho. Just who are these three mysterious women I wonder? Flea may think they're harmless, but I think his horse might be the wiser of the pair here ;)

I have such a great level of anticipation reading this revised version. Looking forward to see what will come and I'm already drawn in. Damn adulting making me put this down. But one chapter in. It's been a while since I was excited about picking up a book again on the morrow.

AND argh he thinks if he makes her laugh everything will be ok and she won't be hurt any more.

Although excellently written, I am Really not enjoying the subject. Estranged couple, he's had a string of mistresses because she used sexual blackmail. Now he needs a heir so is tying to win her back into his bed. Of course she loved him passionately but was devastated when she found out he had a mistress while they were courting. He's just realised he has no idea what love is.

Dear gods, Nicky pellegrino has captured my middle aged not a midlife crisis perfectly. This book may be too scary to read.

DNF ing. Well written, just not to my taste. A bit too dark.
