Persophone is one of the dumbest heroines I’ve read in a while.

I had to double check multiple times that this was not the love hypothesis. The characters are kind of indistinguishable, but in this one they do get more annoying as we go along.

I’m already taking off one star for gratuitous use of “beautiful boy” and for insta-love/reconnection.

I’m having a little trouble with Annie. If I were in her position I would 100% be on the next plane to Paris lol. I can understand the hurt of the suddenness and the way Jon left though.

I think the quirkiness is supposed to be endearing, but it really isn’t.

Boring

It’s interesting. Normally I’m really annoyed with authors doing way too much describing what is happening, without actually showing the reader what’s happening. Here, the problem is the opposite. It’s almost entirely dialogue so far with very little description or explanation. It’s making it very hard to get into the story or imagine the setting or characters.

I’m only half way through, but this is one book where I would not recommend the audiobook version. The tone just feels so off unless the narrator really is meant to be that annoying and oblivious to what’s going on around her. So peppy for an apocalypse lol.

River is the worst. Immature and irresponsible and putting everyone in danger constantly. Ugh.

It’s so strange for me reading this series. It’s interesting and well written, and I am curious to see how it plays out, but I root for almost no one. Everyone is mean and petty and I just can’t root for them. Even Jude.
