Sula spoke to me on a level that I had not expected to be spoken too. While an independent icon, Sula is a flawed heroine that borderlines on Olivia Pope levels. I completed this book to satisfy several of my 2021 reading list criteria and I am glad to have started the year off with Morrison’s wise words: make yourself for yourself; worry less about what everyone else has to say.
