It's crazy how well done this book feels but also I'm bored to tears. I just want it to be over - and that's me somehow still having space to say that I do actually enjoy parts of it. Something is just disconnecting for me

I can sorta see why, when I read this the first time I was sorta meh and didn't bother to look at the third. This one so far is weaker/less interesting than book 1. I'm hoping though to read this to get to book 3 though

Finished Dawn. I’ll wait for September for Day. Also to pace it out. Didn’t think Dawn was as strong but I liked the general idea

I'm like enjoying this and not somehow. It also sorta throws me how TINY the font is in this edition omg.

Already finished Night. Damn. I do sort of wonder/I might look up why they bothered to move prisoners instead of just like... abandoning them. Like, in the beginning, I get that they were used for types of labor but interesting how long they kept doing that

Gonna start a little bit of this. I'm rereading Night but I haven't read the other 2 before. I like that it's all in one book

Yeah the casual tone (?) and the author interludes really kill the vibe for me. I don’t remember the movie being so comedic like intentionally (?)

Hmm not bad re-reading. I'm 50/50 on whether I want the physical bc the cover(s) are so neat. But we'll see. Sort of re-reading bc the third book which I've never read is being re-released in softcover I think next month

The modern/author parts/interjections aren’t my favorite 😴😪🥱 but the rest is cute so far? I saw the movie AGES ago and really thought the book took place in a vague fantasy land not, like, our actual world. I might have to watch the movie again after reading to see how they compare but the both get a lot of praise for being almost, if not, equal

I guess I found the narrative/semi-4th wall breaking thing to be a lot more enjoyable last time bc now I'm sorta like so-so on it. Also it does NOT help that I've been mentally run ragged so I thought this book would be fun/easy as a re-read but XD I don't love it this time as much as I did last time so it's doing the opposite of what I was hoping it would do for me

Yeah there are a lot more like human parts to this sheep book than I was expecting. Not that I thought there would be zero humans in a book about sheep investigating a murder - but I feel like those/these scenes are a lot more human-based than the sheep looking in. A little disappointed

Lowkey this book seems a little long? And I feel like not a lot of “dead shepherd investigating” is happening rn

God I’m almost done. I probably would feel deeper invested into the book if it didn’t feel so misogynistic bc there are really strong parts

Pausing - the initial violence Winston feels for Julia is like... very hard to forget/overlook - which maybe/hopefully has a narrative purpose at some point but feels very gross. I don't want to give this ~ being an old book ~ as an excuse for a violent fantasy

Only 100ish pages. Should be able to read it this morning as I wait for my first appointment of the day

I think I'm getting close to the point where I stopped reading and never picked the book up again
