Currently reading this along with 1929 and it’s a good tandem read to give you historical context for a story set within that structure.

Can’t finish- not my thing.

Really, really not my style. I wanted to finish it but couldn’t make myself read anymore, I get that the ostentatious stuff is the whole point of the book but it was too many descriptions and not enough character description/actions/dialogue for me. I googled the plot on Wikipedia so I know what happens, because I can’t slog through it anymore.

Lord have mercy, this has to be one of the longest meandering retellings ever. I’ll finish it, because reading JAFF is obviously a genetic defect of mine but right now it’s kind of a slog.

So sappy, I am hoping it gets better further on but man I have been rolling my eyes so many times I have a headache.

It is getting harder and harder to get through this book. I feel like just as soon as the author starts to let the story unfold and speak for itself , she has to throw in multiple comments by the narrator about how awful everything it going to turn out for Every. Single. Person. It is distracting and makes it difficult to get attached to or even like any of the characters.
