First reread of this, first time reading it in english, the writing is amazing.

this might become the funniest book I've ever read, it is certainly on track so far

no I don't think I get it ..

The first story was such a wild ride and I reeeallly liked it. Cannot wait to see what the other stories are like.

Telling (or rather overexplaining) instead of showing is probably what is dragging this book to extreme lengths. how am I still not even close to finished??

Starting to warm up to the characters a little, but how have I been reading this forever and am not even halfway done? I just cannot care enough about men, too stubborn to talk about their trauma and try to get help for themselves, to read about decades of this struggle over hundreds of pages with no real progess or change.

This sentence by Andy pretty much perfectly sums up my feelings towards Jude: "There's something incredibly arrogant about your stubbornnes, Jude. Your utter refusal to listen to anyone about anything that concerns your health or well-being is either a pathological case of self-destructiveness or it's a huge fuck-you to the rest of us."
So far, I am dredging my way through this, it's so male ..

So far not much is happening. I am mostly confused because I keep thinking this is set in the early 20th century and then get confused because it is modern in fact.

As a Swiss person, the list of cheese Linzie is buying to make "fondue" is sending me...

It's happening....

Words cannot describe how much this book is resonating with me and how utterly heartbreaking the revelations are.

Will I be able to finish this before I am going to see the movie on Wednesday? absolutely not! Will I still kind of believe that I can do it? Absolutely yes.

I have been crawling through this book over the weekend, it is extremely dense with the layered narration and page-long footnotes and I am really looking forward to the more crazy pages where it's less conventional text. So far, I am creeped out and intruiged by the story but the tension is taken relieved every few pages by philosophical an scientific discussions.

The bad puns followed by AN EXPLANATION OF THE BAD PUNS are driving me insane.

finished all of the approximately 20 forewords an the first chapter, looooove it so far. The writing is incredible and I miss evolution biology lectures.

Rereading Piranesi for my book club. 1st of all, damn, this is sooo good, cannot wait to dive into it again. 2nd, I didn't catch the Narnia reference on my first read, but it just made me irrationally happy.

How old was Santiago? That boy already knows about quantum physics?? And also the "Are you afraid?" "I don't like hungry things." slapped so hard.

this has been addictive af the whole way through, I cannot stop.

Already LOLed several times while reading the foreword, written by Nabakov himself, I fucking love this man!
