annual christmas reread wuhuuu

finished all of the approximately 20 forewords an the first chapter, looooove it so far. The writing is incredible and I miss evolution biology lectures.

Rereading Piranesi for my book club. 1st of all, damn, this is sooo good, cannot wait to dive into it again. 2nd, I didn't catch the Narnia reference on my first read, but it just made me irrationally happy.

Happy to report that I found a mistake. One micron (micrometer) i not a one hundredth of a millimeter, but one thousandth. Patricia Wiltshire is happy to talk rather negatively about everybody else in science, especially those that do not like to use microscopes, but sadly, this doesn't really make her a great author of books that are a pleasure to read and make her sound more bitter and opinionated than smart.

I have been doing this fun challenge where I use a random number generator to select a book from my physical tbr and then read it in that week (more or less). This has been such a fun motivation to tackle books that have been sitting on my tbr for a while. I drew Emma in the first week, Breakfast at Tiffany's in the second, a certain hunger this week and for next week it will be Sea of Tranquility. TBR: 140

House of Flowers: 5/5 I loved this short story.

Kuang really gets the „dark“ in dark academia, meaning there‘s a lot of romantisation because academia eats you alive and how else would you bear it but it is actually not a cutesy esthetic but so fucking hard. Tbt me crying when I got my masters degree, just because it was finally over.

Breakfast at Tiffany's or the OG manic pixie dream girl. this was a lot of fun, perfect length, no notes.

I feel like there are maybe too many pages spent on the preparations for this ball...

this is still just as addictive as it was 15 years ago. I am severly sleep deprived right now, because I kept reading for hours before bedtime.

I have been inspired by the recent rise of tbr challenges and yesterday, I used a random number generator to pick a book from my physical tbr to read this week. (great pick, because I have two copies and get to mark two books in my excel file as finally read). Yesterday, I read the first three chapters and I was already surprised by the amounts of details that weren't in the movie.
