It's so good...but I'm not supposed to be spending time reading for pleasure when I have homework to do!

Coincidentally, the non-fiction (Ehrman) I'm reading for school describes a world very much like the one Leckie builds - a world where gods are real and have power, but are constrained by reality.

She just tells such a compelling story-within-an-epic, I can't put it down.

A fascinating look at how the people who made up the "pagans" of the first century saw themselves, and the ideas and innovations that caused new ideas to spread.

By its nature, an anthology is meant to show off both diversity and identify the best from a widely divergent mix. "Best" is a tough value judgment to apply to stories as different from each other as these stories are - they run from epic to personal, from deep to silly, and each one deserves to be read. That said, there's a difference between "like" and "appreciate" - Your Mileage May Vary, but it's worth the trip.

Damn - overdue, and no option to renew! I'll need to re-reserve this one.
