I’ve been on 18% for months. Can’t bring myself to DNF but was not enamoured with part one

I can’t tell if Stunich has heard of cream teas and took them literally but the way she is butchering tea is truly disturbing. I’m assuming Windsor’s name is tongue in cheek at least…

12% in and it’s lacking the fun and silliness that i love about the twisted sisters. This is very serious, more like that vampire series I dnfed.

The FMC is annoying me… e.g.

I hate these dresses! Someone gives her something alternative. I won’t wear these! How dare they!

I am jealous my sister gets to go on an adventure. Ahh now I’m going and I don’t want to.

I continue to listen to this but I absolutely hate the heroine. Not sure I am going to finish the book.

I’m not enjoying this… it has good moments but as many others have said it’s very similar to hunger games (although to be fair, the society games thing was done before then) but I absolutely hate when the FMC is deliberately playing with other people’s feelings. It’s so unforgivable in real life. Also. while I like Kai, torture is not morally ambiguous.

I’ve picked this book up so many times and cannot seem to get past the first few chapters, not sure why. I’ve read and loved many other Dickens and the subject is absolutely fascinating but I always seem to get stuck.

First, does anyone else think Mighty Boosh when they see the word obsidian? Hard to take it seriously when all you can picture is Noel Fielding saying Obsidian Blackbird McKnight.

Second, started this on audio but the narrator was so dreadful that I need to find a book copy. Ugh
