Claudia’s maturation makes this narrative so interesting, but the fact that she is an adult Vampire stuck in a perpetually 5 year old frame brings an ick to this narrative that’s so hard to shake.

The introduction of the child vampire Claudia makes this text all the more dark and disturbing, and reading this once again as an adult (I think I read it last when I was like 12), Lestat’s choice of turning her and “giving” her to Louis as a trap and a way to imprison him by his side is so much more disturbing to me now then it was when I was a child myself.

The end of part one was well written but emotionally gut-wrenching!

Not my typical contemporary read, but she had me at Shakespeare, and so far I like it. Plus, the trailer for the movie looks so good and I am a “read the book before watching the movie” type of guy.

So far it’s a bummer of a book. Now that she’s in the stacks at the library I hope some gloom can be washed away from this desolate landscape Haig has painted.

Where the author drops us into this narrative is interesting considering where the last one left off. The first chapter dragged a bit, but the wind in the narrative figuratively and literally picked up in chapter 2.

For those that know me as a reader this will come as a shock, but this is the first Agatha Christie I have read. Also, for those that know me, it will not be shocking that so far I’m enjoying it!
