For those that know me as a reader this will come as a shock, but this is the first Agatha Christie I have read. Also, for those that know me, it will not be shocking that so far I’m enjoying it!

This read is tedious, the author just spent an entire chapter painstakingly describing a character’s free throw regiment. At this point I want the elk goddess to kill everyone and be done with this torture!

The end of Lewis’s story is messed up. I’m starting to think there just is something not right with you Mr. Graham Jones! Stephen King in the 70s had drugs and alcohol to blame for his warped yarns, what’s your excuse?

At times it’s hard to take this narrative seriously, but regardless, that last chapter was F’d up!

Just as the intrigue is building, the chapter ends with an awkward Husband/Wife pickup basketball game to 11 and a sweaty post-game “wrap up”. What the hell am I reading?

So far I’m more annoyed by the delay in detail and Graham Jones inexplicable obsession with talking about basketball in this book then I am creeped out, and being creeped out is why I picked this book up in October to begin with. Hopefully this picks up, because right now the narrative is agonizingly hanging in the air like the author’s non-sequitur anecdote about Whiteboy Curtis’s jump shot!

One Goodreads reviewer in regards to this text said, “Yapper Yapperson” says nothing for 200 plus pages. I’m beginning to fear they might be right!

While I see the not so subtle metaphor emerging from this text, I’m still not seeing what’s so terrifying about this novel to the reader. That being said, I do like this quote on page 93, “…a found object is always cursed.”

The back and fourth narrative between the past and present, with the film’s screen play mixed in for good measure is an engaging touch. Still not sure what’s going to happen, but it has Halloween 3 vibes so far, that’s the one with the masks.

Finally arrived, if this novel is half as interesting as its cover and packaging, I’m in for a Goodread!😂

The meta experience of reading a protagonist engrossed in reading about another novel’s protagonist and narrative is fascinating. To enjoy reading a book focusing on a character enjoying reading a book brought a smile to my face.

It’s been decades since I read this book or watched the film, but I forgot how much I love it. I love Savannah, so maybe I’m biased, but it’s just an engaging read from the get go!

A chapter in and I like it. However, the apprehension the protagonist has about selling books is amusing, because I can’t imagine a world where the concept of books and a fear of discussing them with others would be a thing.

The book is becoming redundant because there is only so many variations of anecdotal evidence interviews can bring to the book, but it’s still cool to read about such a historically significant and beloved ride.

The end is nigh, but what a depressing ride this has been. I couldn’t imagine living this existence, much alone revisiting it through memories and autobiographical writing.

Just finished part one and I’m starting to see a key pattern in successful modern fiction: Put some dark academia in it and make it murder porn. All the confused questions about Stephen King’s state of mind in the 70s and 80s should be asked about all of these contemporary female authors, goodness!

While I don’t like the way Van Veen dances around the details, the narrative did just give some Usher/Flowers in the Attic vibes that at least kicked up the suspense a few notches from the zero it’s been sitting at for the greater part of 200 pages.

I started this book once before, but life intervened, and I put it down. My rereading attempt is so far so good, and I am enjoying the narrative landscape much better this time, so I’ll take it as a positive sign to come.

“We’re going to need a bigger book!” Although most of this text is pieced together interviews by the people who helped bring the Jaws ride at Universal Orlando to life, and as a result, not always the most fluid, smooth read, it is still filled to the gills with nostalgic and interesting historical tidbits.
