Nice historical novel follows George Washington and a humble New Jersey militiaman through the build up to and battle for Trenton, a major turning point in the American Revolution. Great book for adults and upper middle grade and YA readers really summarizes the challenges of the war and makes it understandable and personal. Great book to read this summer especially, when America is celebrating its 250th birthday.

A brutal, beautiful book about life on an island in South Korea where women are the breadwinners and men are the "housewives." The story takes place during WWII through the present, and there's so much history I didn't know. America does not look good here.

Diary of a soldier who served with the US army in new Mexico in the 1850s. Bennet witnessed a lot of history, and it makes for interesting reading.
