this book is dry as a bone 🐫 it’s for someone, but probably not me. i might not be able to muster listening to the rest, unfortunately. I’m hugely interested in the history of bookmaking, but not exactly when it’s written like a manual and I’m falling asleep listening to the names of different monarchs and conquerors over and over. sad ;(

really fw nonfiction recently

I have 4 hours left to listen, 2 hours of my Libby loan... Uh oh

Lucy Worsley is great. She destroyed a biographer for describing Jane as “plump, dumpy woman.” Jane was 5’7 with a 24in waist 💀Worsely responds, “What he (the other biographer) sees is an ordinary woman’s figure at rest sitting causally upon the ground and wearing voluminous regency clothing. What he describes as ‘dumpy’ is that she doesn’t look like a 20th century film star.”

pretty cute and I love Cluny — his chapters are hilarious and way more fun than the mice ones — but otherwise I don’t know if I care to finish reading the entire book. we’ll see!

I’m very familiar with “The Iliad” and Achilles’s story, so I wasn’t convinced I’d care enough about this relationship or plot… I was wrong! Here’s to the second half !

This book is a bit ridiculous, but I haven’t put it down yet… so sue me!

I’m so ready for this.
