Maybe I’m biased after consecutively reading “Lords of Discipline” and “Lonesome Dove,” two of the greatest books I ever read. But meh. I feel apathetic about books right now. Maybe I need to allow more time to mourn “Lonesome Dove”? Hehe.

This book is so vulgar. There are some weird sexual references. Not even innuendos, just flat out talk about “titties” and “pussy”. Please do yourself a favor and read literally any other Conroy book than this one.

I am on page 144 and so far this book is driving me nuts. I am going to continue reading it because someone very near and dear to me recommended this book. I absolutely loved “The Lords of Discipline.” In “The Great Santini”, however, everyone is witty. Everyone is a smart ass. Everyone is sarcastic. Everyone is philosophical. I become annoyed when I read it.
