What is everyone reading for Halloween?

Such a comfort read for this spooky season, I can't stop picking the book up whenever I have the time!

A guy that’s all for situationships and avoids relationships like the plague? What a turn-off

Haha! I knew the poetic magnetic words collection on her fridge would shift, just like Bag of Bones!

It’s a fun read so far! And not to put my English teacher cap on (I’m not great with this either) but the poor grammar here and there throws me out of the story

As someone who lived in a tourist town (ahem, Banff, I don’t let anyone forget it, do I?) I do appreciate the narrative and perspective of someone that also lives in one haha it’s a dream if it weren’t for the tourists and some occasional odd co-worker that comes and goes

The thing is with a lot of romance, they exaggerate the hell out of both the male and female gaze, like okay I get it

I've exhausted myself with reading extensive amounts of non-fiction and academic journals for uni that (stupidly) I picked up Yellowface to find some reprieve. Anyways, R.F. Kuang is one of the biggest intellects I know and writes like a lecturer more often than not, so not so much of the reprieve I crave. Still, I think aside from that the book has become repetitive already so it's hard to chew through.

Been too busy to read right now and will be reading a lot of academic things for film school soon too but hopefully I can enjoy reading again and read fiction again, I miss my escapism haha

The problem is, there's a lot of waffle in this book. I like the premise and when it gets to the action, the nitty gritty it's superb but there's just too much meandering in between

I’m not gonna complain it’s a cursory glance at French cinema and that’s fine it basically says so on its front cover, I’m still learning so much and still very much inspired

I just don't like when they tell a story/read an article or something of the like in a book. I can't complain too much as I have done this in my own novels and see its significance but I can't help but gloss over them, they're too factual or in this case of Minna telling a story, nothing to do with the book itself, it's a random story I don't need to hear

"And though there was no one to admire her, she was quite content to admire herself." YES GIRL! Exactly how you should feel after the affair!

Sorry finally had time to read again but this book is so hard to read speedily through. I don't know if I can finish it and it's a library book so my time is limited!

I read some more when I was venturing into London yesterday but omg like aside from the very obvious sapphic moments with Sophia and her husband's mistress, those scenes with her restless nights and her whole speech of her man smelling like his lover are truly realistic to how you deal and what you go through during an affair or betrayal
