I'm only into the intro of this audiobook and am already wishing that someone with the ebook could CTRL+F the number of times Mar uses the term "exotic."

It may seem as if I have read a lot of books in July, but it is actually the domino cascade of me finishing up all of the books that I have been reading simultaneously for the past some months. Fun times all around.

I nearly got too irritated by the main character and by the jarring historical fact-dumping interludes to continue until the dissection scene happened and I hit a vibe. As my library colleague said, this is a historical fiction work about libraries, and it is actually becoming enjoyable.

Someone told me to read this in a library science conversation about libraries in fiction, and it was — surprisingly — on Audible. No idea who Marcus Didius Falco is, but whatever, sure I'll figure that out soon.

I'm really happy that the author figured out a worldview that made him happy, but as someone who is making a lot of progress in actually understanding Platonism, listening to him say it's the cause of all of the West's dualism problems and why the author's scientific interpretation of Daoism is better puts me in a deep state of mental agony about his insufficient lit review. I do not know if I can continue.

He dunks on Ancient Greek philosophy as being the source of mind-body dualism and all of the ills of the West and contrasts it with the Dao. This is what happens when the loudest readings of Greek philosophers are dualistic, I guess.

I'm switching most of my reading activity to StoryGraph (but I'll still do reviews here because I know it helps authors!). You can find me at kayeofswords on StoryGraph.
