Em is starting Late-Stage Babylon: Navigating the Post-Secular Spiritual Crisis
Just started this. While I don't like the cover, I find the topic to be interesting, especially in light of a certain tech billionaire who's making headlines these days for his weird mix of tech and religion. These tech billionaires remind me of Howard Hughes in his later years.

I'm about to start the last chapter, six. I'm really enjoying this as well as the narration. I did slow it down just a tad to absorb what the narrator is saying. I'm savoring each chapter. One of the things I enjoy about Jane Austen is that she is telling the reader about society through the cloak of a novel. Professor Stephanie Insley Hershinow does a great job in this Great Course.

I had hoped this would help me with an upcoming move. Nope. I plan to return to this after the move. It's definitely geared toward people who have young children living at home.

It will be interesting to see how this book lands with me at this point in my life, since I am not a young adult or even a middle-aged adult. I am hoping that it will give me insight into how to make friends in our early years of being a "senior," when we are still working so short on time and energy.

Chapter 3. Why is this spiral-bound? The pages stick and don't turn easily.

Reading on KU. While I agree with much of what she has to say, she needed a better editor - if she had one at all. Too wordy.

The actress Belinda Bromilow would make a fantastic Aunt Know if this book were made into a movie or series.

After dipping in and out of this book for five years, I've learned that what works best for me in these kinds of books is to look at the table of contents and then go to the chapter that speaks to me. For now, I'm in the decluttering chapter. Currently reading on Kindle. I did try listening to this on Audible, and that was a snooze. I also have the hardback version, which is lovely.

The heroine is too modern for the time. However, the hero fell fast and hard, and is making it worth the listen. The lightness and humor of the writing are appreciated. The sweetness of the heroine connecting with her grandfather is touching. It looks like I'll need to read the prequal book that introduces the duchess.

And we're off to the races. Don't we love a triangle where no one is truly evil or mean?

I like that the potential rivals for the hero and heroine's affections are nice and not "evil" or calculating.

I started with Kindle and then switched to an audiobook. This is sweet. We are seeing two people get to know each other, one of whom has trauma from having been in war. One of whom had a horrible mother and who has overcome that experience.

This is a bit more farcical than the first entry, "Viscount in Love," in this series, with two less-than-pleasant characters, the mother and the Prince Regent. Narrator Mary Jane Wells does a fantastic job, as always, but I am struggling to understand the Scottish accents. I sense a future book will feature the maid, Hortense. It's engaging and entertaining.

I was chosen to be an advanced listener, and I'm SO EXCITED! Mary Jane Wells is the narrator/voice talent, which is why I requested to read this. This will be archived on June 24, so I'm starting it today, and the library books and Audible will be put on hold!

Chapter 30 - Here, Willa becomes "too stupid to live" when she believes what Prudence is saying. I knew this moment was coming. There was too much foreshadowing about the bog, death, and Prudence. I'm now going to switch to the ebook so I can hurriedly move past this part where Willa is written as a ninny.
