Was not a fan so I stopped reading. Not the usual Alice Hoffman that I love.

Had to stop the book before finishing. Was not riveting, although it was interesting to read about the background of Irans politics post WWII.

Oooh. And the plot thickens. Very convoluted but I’m anxious about how this will end!

About 75% finished. Amor Towles, I do love your prose and enjoy how you weave a story. I have to go back and reread parts of Rules of civility to help me with Eve’s breakup and her family’s response.

Having a hard time connecting in this book. I think I will give a rest to another time.

Wow- I’m plowing through listening to this book. I think I have six hours left. So many names. Fear mongering existed then too. I know hindsight is 20/20, but I can’t help thinking if clearer heads were able to convince the war mongers to use international negotiations during previous decades , we wouldn’t be in a better place in the world today. After reading the book, maybe I can see the movie

I am really enjoying this book. Supposedly a young adult novel, but Sepetys does not disappoint no matter the age. Franco’s dictatorship is no different than others - torture and death of those who are different t than your ideology. The babies 😡

I did not finish this book but will revisit it again. Terrifying information about how many states and counties abuse the poverty stricken with judicial fees that continue to accrue interest for seemingly small infractions like parking and traffic tickets.

Had to stop this book. Wasn’t getting into all the drama.

Such a fun character to tell the story of black Americans during the depression.

Loved this book with its history of events from the early settlers and Native American tribes to 2001 and the terrorist strike on the World Trade center. It was an embellished version of taking a trip to the Museum of the City of New York!

Had to quit this book. Could not get into the story as all the names and nicknames kept distracting. Maybe another try later.

I am enjoying this book immensely. Love the author’s explorations of the psyche and hidden feelings of his characters. What I liked about A Man called Ove and Britt Marie was here.

Good story. Rather than build a wall, how about work with Mexico to get them out from under the thumbs of the cartels. So sad for ordinary people to survive.

Couldn’t finish this book. The rat stuff was making me queasy.

A good love story with a backdrop of the Spanish civil war and Chile’s dictatorship and political unrest.

I’m enjoying the story line. Put it on your list goodreads friends.
