Another reason I'm excited for Emme and Val's book is because it'll be great finally for just ONE of these books not to involve angst because the heroine just can't fucking cope with the idea that the hero is wealthy.

I have had and continue to have issues with CF's portrayal of dominants, but this book isn't awful about it. But I am over the manbaby whining about how deeply hurt Vittorio is that the woman he just met only trusts him with 99% of her life.

Interesting story so far. Still focused on Val and Emme. The moment they explained the Saldi family deal I had an idea of where we would go with them and so far it looks like I'm right.

Gio tries to lecture Val about how no means no in his world, and Sasha has a brief meditation on what a bullshit lie that is because his whole family thinks no means "try harder". Searing insight into the alpha male romance genre!!

Feels like he also could've done more to indicate that it wasn't a consensual kiss to the paparazzi. Seems like violently shoving her away, spitting to one side, and wiping his mouth in disgust might have added, at the VERY LEAST, some mitigating detail to the media frenzy, if not changed the story entirely.

I love Sasha. Getting that out of the way-- wtf, why would he dance with a random, admittedly malevolent and manipulative ex? Just say no, you fucking idiot.

This book is better than the first one. I like Francesca but her angst was often dumb. She had SERIOUS evidence of Stefano's attraction to her but doubted it CONSTANTLY, and often spent pages agonizing about things that were explicitly dealt with already, and failed to follow up on tons of important conversations. Mariko had a genuine reason to suspect Rico's devotion to her, so already worlds better!

I love that this book is set on Long Island, but I've begun to notice that this version keeps referring to his "maths teacher" and "child-support cheques" and it's getting harder to overlook...

Incidentally, I am a little disappointed that the book's blurb was not accurate! I was into the idea that they had a purely physical fling because Garrett didn't see any reason to deprive herself, and then romance happened afterward, rather than that they had already both acknowledged that they would be together forever if they could have by the time they had their "one night".

True fiction fact: If you tell a gravely wounded person "I love you", you might as well have murdered them personally. Death is impossible if emotions are not verbally acknowledged by a partner or family member. Just never admit to loving anyone!

Bleh about this one so far. I don't particularly care about Emerie or Drew, way too many flashbacks to Drew's uninteresting and depressing life with his ex (sometimes every other chapter) which is hard to care about when I don't care about him. Drew bores me compared to Caine or Brody, and I'm not sure if Emerie has anything going on at all.

It was really hard to skim through to the end of this when I just want to be reading her more recent books.

I'm so glad they reminded me that he introduced her to the healing power of music -- I thought that was incredibly striking when I realized, and I'd forgotten about it. Beautiful stuff.
