Notes so far:
1) i don't buy the found family. These characters barely know each other let alone like each other.
2) it includes queerness without engaging queerness. Queer bars have glory holes, obvs. Cis people are all cruel cuz they don't get us, obvs.
3) is this about found family or about battling an AI. If one its plot focuses on the wrong stuff. If the other it starts too far from the action.
4) IT’S BORING!

Might end up being a dnf because I am finding this an absolutely agonizing read.

God I wish this book wasn't annoying me as much as it is. (Not having to constantly ruminate on your own gender is cis privilege and it actually infuriates me that these characters can't shut up about how amazing/isolating/magical/nerve wracking being trans is. I KNOW WE’RE TRANS I KNOW WE’RE TRANS I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT BEING TRANS CAN YALL F*CKING STOP???)

I can't describe how much I hate the narration in this book. Andy Weir's writing might make this a DNF by itself.

So far I am finding this book so uninteresting that I'm choosing to read absolutely trash minotaur smut instead so. Do what you want with that information.

Completely by accident, I started reading this book on the date mentioned in the prologue... which bodes so well.

I don't understand how this author replaces words like "night" and "day", refuses to say "man" and "woman" in favor of "male" and "female", and uses invented currency ("buckets of bloodstone"), to create a sense of worldbuilding and atmosphere and then unironically uses the word "hyperfixation." Baffling.
