Who polishes antiques?! The patina!

I will say that having two characters from two separate stories, "panting like a cat in heat," doesn't work for me.

I read the title story of This Skin Was Once Mine and Other Disturbances prior to starting this one. I gave up on the rest of the book, so I didn't rate it, but I want to finish at least one of Eric LaRocca's books so I can rate it.

I really doubt a judge would sign a warrant to search for a "murder" weapon for a death that had been already been deemed a suicide...especially on the say-so of some blogger with an obvious vendetta against the "suspect."

Also. The red herring villain is so obvious it's painful.

New Year, same me. I know I always complain about this author, but I can't help myself...

I'm glad this got returned until now, it's perfect for October.

This writing is insufferable.

It's terribly obvious Josh Malerman doesn't know wtf he's talking about most of the time.

I keep reading him because one of my favorite books of all time is Unbury Carol. Not just a favorite of his, but of all books. I'd like him to write something excellent again.

Might be the first book by C.J. Tudor that I enjoy. We'll see!

Kit's journal entries are not profound, they're annoying dribble (lol) that look a lot like filler.

Not even halfway, and it's so repetitive.

Malerman also makes some writing choices that irritate me, like tacking on "she knows" to the end of so many sentences. It doesn't add to characterization. It comes across as poor editing and/or pretentious.

This is my kind of horror.

It took the MC too long to figure it all out.

This is taking me so long because I have to keep taking breaks. I have to take a lot of breaks because this isn't a thriller. It's a drama, and it's stressing me out. The pacing is prolonged and emotional.
I've liked Stimson's work, but this isn't working for me.

This premise is so cool, but this author is trying too hard. I have yet to be able to finish one of her books. Let's see if this one breaks the trend.

What middle school even does class pets? That's not a thing is it? Some 6th grades are still at elementary school, but 13 means 7th grade.

I really hope this has a satisfying ending. I'm gonna be so upset.
