i thought i'd be finishing a couple of books from my list of thirty-something "currently reading" shelf yet here i am
(disclaimer: it's probably forty-something as i keep finding books that i forgot to put on the shelf)

it was a regrettable decision on my part to read “a few pages” before bed at 3am … hello it is now 6am 🥲

natalie naudus' hypnotic and seductive voice is just *faints dramatically*
(it fits the cover so well, too, like i could see smoke swirling, heavy lidded eyes, ...)

writing instructor recommended me this book for its theme (i am also aware that my “currently reading” shelf is out of control but no i am not going to stop :D)

note to self: do not read while eating... rip appetite when the characters start talking about tasting piss and melting brain in the microwave

some of you might have noticed that i’m not interacting with reviews as much these days, but i reassure you that i am still here!! i now mainly read reviews of books i’m looking up though, rather than live updates.

in other news, i’ve been doing more writing! i have a novella manuscript due in fall and if everything goes well, you’ll be able to read it next year! (cont. in comments)

wasn’t super invested at first but now I’m pretty hooked! I do think this book might be targeting white readership more than asians though

binge reading this in preparation for my story to be workshopped on tuesday... (my story is set in taiwan with taiwanese characters, partly set during japanese colonial era, has indigenous legends and a tiny bit of japanese and taiwanese; my class is predominantly white with no other asians)
