Kullervo, son of Kalervo, talking to his sword before his suicide:

Thus far, the best poem has been the 30th, in terms of story, while others had perhaps, a more beautiful poetic flow. It was very "Lord Of The Rings esque". Interesting to see what inspired Tolkien.

I'd say poems 22 and 23 describe the family dynamics of this culture. Not sure if it's historically accurate or just pertaining to the people of Kalevala.

Väinämöinen hits the wall:

"Ah me, a worn-out man already,
That I did not know it sooner,
To get married in my youth,
Find a partner in good time!
Foolishly a ma regrets
Who regrets an early marriage,
Getting children in one's vigour,
Setting up a family early."

The origin of the code "bros before hoes":
"So it's you, old Väinämöinen!
Let's not take the girl by force,
Marry her against her wishes."
And old Väinämöinen nodded:
"Very gladly I agree,
Let's not take the girl by force
Nor marry her against her wishes;
Let her go to whom she chooses,
To the man that she desires -
Keep our friendship without grudges,
Without feuding over her."

While beautifully written compared to say, "The Iliad", I feel like this whole story thus far is just different dudes that are trying to get laid. Going through great lengths, quests even just to get it in.

This is about the time I met Robson. I had no idea the caliber of BJJ instruction I had randomly found myself in. Robson was already a living legend. My of the other students were nice ppl too and I still talk with. Thanks for those memories.
