It just feels a bit self indulgent on the authors part. Connell and Marianne are be 18, I get it, they’re insecure because they haven’t established who they are yet.
But it’s not a complex idea, why did it need to be drawn out over 29% of the book?
I’m 25 and I know at 18 I was equally insecure but I wouldn’t want anyone to have to read my internal thoughts on that now because it feels so immature.
