I couldn’t I had to dnf to my great consternation. This author takes lazy and atrocious writing to new lows

From the first page this book ensnared me. Ive been getting recommendations for months and I was ignoring them. I have no idea why. This is priceless. The humour! the writing, so flawless and imaginative. I am in love with Ms. Draven!

wow this is a trial to read.

I'm devastated.

No matter how well it starts. these main female characters always devolve into the spoilt brat, selfish, entitled women that all fantasy romance writer love to create with all the supporting characters acting as nothing more than mindless cheerleaders. I wish in copying Throne of Glass, Melissa Roehrich would have at least copied the balance, intelligence, focus and maturity of that character.

This books is turning out to be just too depressing for me. There’s barely any good news. It’s just been darkness and death for the last two books honestly it’s too much!

Did not finish. Not my thing and the same gender romance was not relatable especially since I wasnt expecting that given this is touted as great for fans if throne of glass. That spoiled it for me

What I don’t understand about this book is how the FMC keeps making the same mistake over and over again! You know people are out to kill you but you insist on exposing urself. let in strangers. I really hate these books where the female lead is an irrational child and yet the author insists she a strong woman. If you want us to believe she is a woman worth admiring then stop making her an irrational idiot!

32% & I have no idea what this book is really about. for a stand-alone thats puzzling. Fields writes as if you should already be aware of half the story which is unfolding in her head. The end result is that I'm constantly left feeling as if I'm missing half the story or explanation for events. And then I just find the liberal f words too jarring an unnecessary. They don't fit well with the rest of the language

Why oh why is the book soooo SLOW! I’m aging here. And why do we need repeated reminders that troll children are soo ugly and the lily white throwbacks are soo beautiful in the lead’s eyes 🤦🏿‍♀️

Is this a love story between xhex and John or between Quinn and Blay??? Honestly this is so off putting. And then now we are getting Darius life history and a foray into ghostbusters. Such a lack of focus. I’d zero star this if I could. As it is the only start I’m giving is for the skin loss by lash. So glad I didn’t spend any money on this nonsense

Wow each book is worse than the last. 66% in and barely any plot movement and phury is a HUGE annoyance as is the woman

Ok 65% in and the whole thing has gotten old. There is really nothing going on in this book except the endless circles the main characters run around each other, the countless reminders of how perfectly sexy they both are and how evil and self serving they are. While it was amusing a at first, the glorification of a despotic imperialist type of ruler and his classist and power hungry girlfriend has become jarring.

I cant believe how horrid our main female lead is. She is such a terrible person I see very little to like about her so far but I cant stop reading its like she's got me in this morbid hold where I'm drawing closer even as I want to flee! Nice going Ms. Tricia

So far I really don't find the main characters interesting or deserving of having their story told. Karina is so spoilt an self absorbed and doesn't take responsibility for anything and Malik is just so whiny and weak it makes me wanna puke.

Honestly this book is a drag. I can tell its just a filler until the last book in the series. And the attempt to make Chaol look like a victim when Nesryn goes away is ridiculous and annoying. He is the one who was making out with another women and ignoring her yet they were supposed to be together. So where does he get off being portrayed as a victim! Disappointed in how Ms. Maas tackled this one.

This book almost has me in tears at this point. Maeve deserves a slow eternal torture. Death would be to kind for her. I hope she gets banished together with the Erawan. They deserve to be together

Honestly, Ms Maas has not been kind to Dorian since the beginning of this series. Im thinking she must have based his character on someone she hates intensely. That being said, I have a bad feeling about the end of this book. I suspect I will need to rest from the series again like I needed to after Heir of Fire. All a sign of a great book/series
