Just could not get through this. Not the biggest fan of this either. Felt like it was trying to be hard sci-fi mascara doing as fantasy but done poorly for my taste. May revisit in future

Lol I respect the author for putting a solid team fortress 2 reference in this book (heavy, "Cry some more"). I swear if serge calls that gun Sasha I'm going I'll loose it lol. So far this book is easier to follow than the first one.

This book has a nasty habit of making false claims with little to no evidence. The section claiming Australian bush turkeys being the most impactful animals on their environment is demonstrably false by the existence of beaver, bees, termites, and humans. Hyperbolic misinformation makes me distrust other claims in this book. Honestly expected better from this author.

I find this interesting but the chapter on communication has misinformation. The Huntsman spider is very much venomous but is little threat to humans. Additional I question the validity of the mcglaglan experiment without seeing the methods and statistical tests used as it doesn't sound like there was any control or replication of experimental units. I like the facts so far but bad science brings out my nerd rage

Ok clear inaccuracy here. "All plants photosynthesize" is incorrect. There are several non photosynthetic plantst who are parasitic.

So far love that the author is a Kiwi and that they are reading their own audiobook. Just want to note they are not pronouncing the country of Kiribati correctly. It's more 'kee·ruh·bas' and not " ki ri baty". This does not significantly ditract from the information being presented, but given the author is a kiwi and there are many Maori names spelled/pronounced counterintuitively I'm a little surprised.

Like this so far. However, I am halfway through (3 hours 12 minutes) and they just made references to DNA which wasn't discovered to be the molecule of inheritance until about 20 years after the story is set. Like they are even talking about "host dna". As a student of genetics, and the time this is set in, the characters level of understanding of dna is bullshit.

I noticed an inconsistency between this book and the last as far as the magic system is concerned. At the end of the last book it says that one of the Faye bamfed away but then here they claim that Joy had never seen or heard of it it before.

I bit strange and a little too short. It feels like a side quest from elder scrolls oblivion.
