My new favorite word: tragicomic.

Pretty disappointed with the portrayal of Imbrahim. While the narrative indicates that he has considerable field experience, he still comes off like a green sailor with NO experience at all. He may have different opinions from the Captain, but he doesn't need to come off like such a pansy.

Really enjoying this book and find myself smiling every time I pick it up. It reminds me a bit of the Pink Carnation books - only better. I enjoy historical fiction and the fact that I've always been fascinated by Greece makes this one even better.

It's early on in the book, but the characters' Pride and Prejudice counterparts are easily identified. In fact, the narrative seems to follow Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice so accurately that it's almost more a modern remake than a spin-off, which makes it far less original than I'd expected.
