I don’t like either of these narrators as much as I remember. There’s simultaneously so many new threads and so few things happening that aren’t re-treads of conflicts I thought the last book resolved. The first one had a snoozeful start so maybe Reid just isn’t good at openers…

maybe it’s this week hitting me like a truck (teaching in 2 time zones 😵‍💫) but i feel like the author is inventing a new undisclosed country every time we meet a new character. Really bad fantasy name syndrome too but with all this info dumping you’d think she would’ve introduced a basic outline of the various regions. Maybe the print version had a map?

The most interesting worldbuilding bit so far has been the giant spider. I do like the fruity ass researcher though, she’s cute as fuck
