This is a book that will keep me reading until early morning. I like the protagonist, but her intense defense of a virtual stranger is making her seem incredibly unhinged and far too trusting. It's bizarre. In fact, her behavior is more intriguing than the core mystery. Wow!

I'm finding this book irritating and am just reading to finish. The first I enjoyed well enough, but this one has me grinding my teeth and rolling my eyes. Too little mystery, too much everything else. Also, these characters are wildly one-dimensional. Although, I suppose I could turn reading it into a drinking game - have one with each mention of "SLK". Good grief.

Hmmm . . . The book feels dated even with the occasional inclusion of modern technology. Also, the relationships seemed to have blossomed out of nowhere. It feels like passages and even pages are missing. Definitely disjointed.

I'm intrigued by this book, but it also feels disjointed. Definitely moments where I'm scratching my head and going "What!?"

So little has happened. It's all - Amon beautiful, Lily likes control, Lily gives up control, Amon perfect, Lily enthralled, Lily likes giving up control . . . Rinse and repeat. I want something to happen. I'm waiting for something to happen. I guess I want more of the quest and less of whatever this is. Honestly there's a serious dominant/submissive undercurrent that I'm not really digging . . . We'll see.

Seven teenagers win a contest to spend 48-hours in a house of horrors. Is it real or manufactured? That's the question. The ebook formatting made it difficult to keep all of the characters straight -- some headings or more sufficient demarcation would be nice, but it's an ARC. I think I have all of the characters straight, which has made it easier to get lost in the story.

This is slow going. I'm intrigued by the story -- I have some solid ideas about where it's going, but I'm still waiting to like the protagonist. I don't think the first person POV is doing her any favors. The diary interludes are wonderful.

I put this book aside for over a week because I just wasn't getting lost in the story, and I wasn't interested in the characters, but something happened. This book has picked up steam. The storytelling has grown sharper and the action is exciting and well written. The distinction between the two voices has grown clearer. I'm into this book now. I care about these characters now and that is always a great sign.

My last update should have been 16% not page 16. Why no edit feature?

It's the character's voices - Donna is just a bit too much. She's all snark and no substance so far. Jefferson is just a bit too stoic, but also realistically unsure of himself. Hmmm . . .

Chapter 1 read a bit choppy - the writing style - but it certainly isn't short on action. I think I'm acclimating myself to the writer's style.

Is a list of superlatives a review? Is a list of superlatives a progress statement? I love this book!

I am fully enthralled by this novel. Great story, so far, and such lyricism! I don't want to put it . . . but school is still in session and students must be taught. I will have to take a minute or two to mention this fantastic new read!

I like it. I'm interested in where it's going as an individual novel and as the introduction to a trilogy, but it also feels so familiar. It feels like something I've read or seen before, but can't quite remember.

I enjoyed the first in this series, but I'm enjoying this one a bit more. Interesting to note, thus far Gleason seems to be favoring Miss Stoker's voice just a bit more in this alternating format. I wonder if that was true of the first in the series, or perhaps the opposite was true. It isn't hampering the story in any way; it's just something I noticed.

I just couldn't finish this book. It was mentally exhausted. I was mired in dislike. I just didn't like Toni. I just don't like the characters. I didn't like her constant "I don't want a man. Wow! He's hot." Also, why did everyone have blue eyes and why did the author feel the need to tell us? Either way it seems clear she really likes blue eyes. It's been about 3 months the time to quit has come and gone.

I wanted to type something profound about the writing style, characters, plot, or mystery, but I'm busy chasing my eyeballs across the floor. I rolled them a bit too hard.
