No more passing on this book due to expectations… it’s time

My God, I am LOVING this. It’s been soooo long since I’ve been drawn into a dystopian novel (legit probably 10 years) and I’m HOOKED

Anyone got any books and/or series to recommend? Read a few duds and would love to start my reading year on some better footing.

Is it finally time?!

For the love of God! Stop telling this super basic character how smart she is… she’s existing. She’s done absolutely nothing to be considered smart. While I’m at it… don’t describe her as fragile and weak yet then have her physically saving everyone. Stupid. Kill me.

It has absolutely none of the same plot concepts but it’s giving Ella enchanted energy somewhat at the start

Okay I’m usually a big fan for jumping right into a story and hitting the ground running but in this it felt jarring and stupid. Honestly it’s making me not want to give anyone a chance because so far this story is written in such a way that you genuinely can’t care about anyone because even the “background” we got tells you absolutely nothing of relevance.

The only redemption this book will have is if all her former friends get disfigured or murdered… I will only settle for completely unwell.

Yup. Wilder is forgiven but I don’t forgive Kip. No one else seems to care but I’m so annoyed with him. One minute he’s a great friend, the next he’s completely disregard everything that would matter to her because he feels it’s right. Annoying

Dude I know that we’re mentally about to switch sides or whatever but I’m soooo annoyed and mad at her friends… I’m petty enough I would have left everything and everyone behind

I never dnf but I can already assume that this is gonna be an absolute no.

I’m really just getting started but
1) I somehow didn’t know this was a ya
2) telling a kid that they are just gonna go to a different school until thanksgiving is not how schools work
3) making your child move days before their senior year with no warning? Diabolical

I don’t even remember reading it but I got both books on myself so let’s see if I remember 😂😅

“So you’re a little grumpy, that’s okay, here have a snack” is officially my favorite new way to shut down negativity. Completely changed the mood

I think there’s a huge difference between who the author thinks her character is vs how she’s actually written
