TL;DR Asperger benefited from both his choice not to join the nazi party and from his role within the killing system. His diagnosis (autistic psycopathy) was highly influenced by the historical setting he practiced in, particularly in terms of eugenics, racism and stereotypes. A lot of children died, and he was partially responsible. Aspeger’s Syndrome was brought to the US in the 80s/90s and not by him.

I understand it’s a non fiction so there are a lot of tangents and contextual info, but I feel it is often quite far off topic. Some is still interesting, but it is easy to feel a bit like it could have been in a different book.
