It's starting slow but I think I'm getting into it.

This series as a whole is a worldbuilding exercise I enjoy: a LotR-type war against a Dark Lord has been won, now people have to live in the world after. Some of the world after involves the question of orcs, for example.

Every time the book describes the process of turning a Borg drone into Queen as "feminization" I hear dark whispers of terminally online.

There are many reasons to dislike the way this book is written but when it said that Borg Queen would be "the only female on the Cube" my rage was so incandescent it affected local climate, magnetic fields and several species of insects.

Don't remember sex scenes being so expcit in previous books but that might be just my memory.

And so soon after episode of Smartypants where Amanda Lehan-Canto taught people of the world to love smut.

I still don't approve takes it takes so long for these two to kiss but at least Kingfisher is very funny describing how mad horny they are for each other.

I like Kingfisher's writing, I like the world but the whole "two hot people are attracted to each other but being dummies about that" is very tiresome when one tries to get into romance lit.

Pro: One of two protagonists who'll fall in love is cool lady spy.

Con: She's falling in love not with the cool lady paladin (WHO'S RIGHT THERE) but with depressed male one.

(I'm mostly joking, series is about finding love and healing but now I really need the future book about this lady paladin doing those things. And there's briefly mentioned second one who is ✨ mysterious ✨).
