That the Indian chiefdom of Cahokia (covering the lower half of the Mississippi) existed is a revelation, that it was an advanced society of 15,000 farmers who constructed step pyramids and had mezo-American like religious practices and social structure as early as 800 BC is fantastic and amazing. But there were earlier, much earlier advanced native peoples on this American continent dating back to at least 4000BC.
