Cannot get into this book. May DNF it. While the writing and period descriptions are ok, I really don't like the lead character - a lot. Will give it a little more but not seeing this as being finished.

Don't think I'm going to make it through this one...

First book sure was long. The next two look shorter.

Jut finished the first book and really don't want to move on. There is some good writing here but it took me a long time to get into the fact that it was taking place in the early-mid eighties. I really disliked the lead character which is helping with this decision. Another box set sitting in the Currently reading pile... sigh.

What the hell am I reading? Was this translated? Really not sure in the least why I should keep going.

Not sure yet what all the great reviews are about. Not really liking the flow of this, feels a little choppy. Not really attaching to Knox yet.

Boy it really feels like I am just reading this to finish it. one more to go in the set. It is OK but I am looking forward to something else - soon.

Enjoyable but just too much relationship drama for my taste. Really took over the latter half of the book. I enjoyed the characters and story but need a break from all the touchy-feely lovey-dovey sugar.

I wish people wouldn't hand out 5 star ratings for everything. A 5 star rating should be for something that truly has a profound affect on you intellectually or spiritually.

This is a 3 at best. Wanted to put it down a few times based on some things the lead character did or thought. Having a hard time wanting to move onto the second book. We'll see. Taking a break for now.

So many disappointing things about this series. Can't wait to finish and drop it. Have to go back and make sure of the problems I had with it before ranting.

Into book 2 now and really struggling.
Just not to interested in this story. Hate reading simply to finish but will try to get through book two. Will not be going to three probably.

Really having a hard time with this. Don't care about any of the characters. All the laughter for no real reason. Not getting the 5 star reviews at all.

Enjoyable. Liked the mix of Roman military and fantasy. It works well. Will probably read the next in the series.

Enjoying the story but not my style. Little too harliquin romance though.

Keep wondering why I selected this book. Constantly wanting to throw it down and walk away.

Man. This is tough. Just finished the first of three and need a break. Is it me or did Mr. Crane write this when he was a teen? Strange vocabulary. The flow while reading feels choppy. I can't tell if it is an "all will be revealed" style of story telling or if lack of back ground of characters and reasons for events are to just be accepted. Will try the second after clearing my head for a bit.

Kind of stalled on this. Have really enjoyed the writing style and stories but feel like a little doldrum has set in.
