This is going to sound harsh, but dammit, I am harsh!

This might be the worst executed insta-love I've encountered, this side of 2010. So far it's leaning heavily and clumsy-footedly on his side in a way that's highly uncomfortable, too. At least if you ask me. He might just as well be a heart-eyed emoji.

But, sure... Curses! Magic! Whatever! Why bother with actual chemistry and character building!?

I bought this one because of the cover and the edges. The content is so far not amazing though. 😮‍💨

This book is pretty alright, but I'm already mentally with the book I want to start as soon as this one is finished. Makes me feel like I'm cheating on this book. 😆

When an actual goddess calls the main character "a fool" for being excruciatingly slow to realise something, the author clearly has taken the pigheadedness a bit too far, if you ask me. 😆

Also, I must write, that this never-ending chain of horrible events, caused very much by decisions made in spite of seeing bad things coming at the horizon, really irks me the wrong way.
Yes, I understand it's not easy to just pack and leave, but when you have such a big family and everything is CLEARLY going to hell, maybe you should have started doing something BEFORE you're in a literal hole in the ground?

This book is revelling in misery in a way I have not put myself through in ages. It's a bit of a slog, no matter how "based on true history" it may be. Sorry, but suffering is not my personal idea of a good leisure time when it comes to fiction. Also, the "Is there a supernatural factor to this or not?" bit of the story is taking forever to get anywhere and I'm starting to feel like I want to get out and push.

As someone having suffered from (relatively much worse effects of) PTSD after a traumatic incident (and even before that cohabiting with C-PTSD for decades without proper treatment) I really find some aspects of this book a bit ... toothless. And some problems are kind of hard to understand why they even are a problem... 😆

And just like that the first chapter was made just as redundant as it felt listening to!

I felt like the author was fed up with Atticus already in book 4 - and, so far, I've not seen anything convincing me of the opposite. 🤨

Due to how the narrator reads William's voice and his merry, light tone, I somehow always first think he's talking to the cat every time he exclaims "Hello, Kat! Good morning, Kat!" or whatnot. It's a very funny, but also low-key annoying mistake my brain makes, every time. 🤣

Gawd, my copy from Goldsboro Books is soooo cool and looks absolutely wicked on my shelf, but so far this book is just dreadfully dull. 🙈😭

This book might be the first cosy romantasy with a very believable reason for a third act breakup I've ever encountered.
