Everyone in this book is an idiot. Including me for continuing to listening to it. 😑

Holy hell, this book is ridiculous "wordy"... The prose isn't just purple. It's neon green, Barbie pink, and a really dull shade of beige absolutely no one on this earth with a grain of taste could possibly more than moderately like.

Well, this is awkward... I remember absolutely NOTHING from book 1 - which is extremely rare for me. 🫪

I feel like I was transported straight back to the early 2000s and into the anime and/or manga Hellsing. Ghouls and slaughter everywhere. Made me so nostalgic when someone started shooting. 😆

To be fair, that was a really lousy try at an undercover drug deal..... If someone tried that IRL, they'd be dead. 😅

And I really hate and loathe Babette. 🫪💣💀💢🔪

The author really loves the word "erstwhile".... 😆

Did someone fall and hit their head on the "cozy mystery" tag? Because this seems like a normal thriller/mystery to me. 😆

Hehehe, I called this one without seeing the leaves, folks! Plants and poisons nerd points to me! 🌱💀✨

I desperately wanted this book to be in the same tone and style as anything by Becky Chambers - and while it mostly is! It ... just isn't a Becky Chambers. 🥲

I'm getting so many "Last book!" vibes from this story, in a "painted by numbers" kind of way, it's almost sickening.
Angus King is marvellous, as usual, but it doesn't really help. 😮‍💨

This might be the 5th time the author tells the reader about how a hole for new drug dealers opened up when the old ones were taken out by the police. I got it the first time, thank you very much.

Also, this installment in the series contains only trace amounts of Max Craigie. Gawd, I really do happen when that happens.

Chapter 7 and we still haven't seen hide nor hair of Max? Seriously!? I hate when authors do this! It usually means they are losing interest in their own main character. *sigh*

Gawd, I've missed these characters! And the storytelling! I find myself grinning with amusement all the time - and we just got started. Please, stay this good all the way through, book! 🙏🏻🤞🏻🥰

Ropa breaking down the essence of victim mentality and the benefits of therapy was actually really brilliant and on point. Might be the best part of this whole series. 😅

Words cannot express exactly how immensely relieved I will be when I never have to listen to this narrator OR Ropa Moyo's stupid inner monologue ever again! 🥲

...... This is such juvenile YA I want to actually scream from pure frustration. What the actual BLEEP is up with all the raving reviews? Bought? Fake? From another planet? I feel like a complete thorn in the side of this book. Like I'm offending it by just listening to it. Gawd. It's not a book for me.

I kind of adored the first two books by this author - the first more than the 2nd though, and perhaps this is a sign of a declining curve because so far this 3rd one is not very witty or funny, mostly ridiculous and silly. If that doesn't change soon I more than understand the lukewarm reviews. 😮‍💨

I don't hate gender neutral pronouns, quite the opposite. However, I do hate the use of the word "they" as it makes my poor brain think in plural. (I have been imagining a dragon with multiple heads for several minutes now...) 🫪😮‍💨

I "love" how we're just blatantly ignoring the most dangerous thing that would pose a threat on an Earth with a weak, failing atmosphere: The radiation!
Like, yeah, focus on the air and everything else, why don't you! You should have been cooked by now if we were playing by actual rules. 😂

This is the second fire within as many books where fire safety doesn't seem to exist in the Michael Wood universe. Convenient for the plot, but a bit "itchy" for my little grey cells. 😆
