I'm struggling to find a reason to finish. This books seems to be little more than a list of recollections of other works that contains very little insight or analysis beyond "it is good" or "I found it scary." If the writer has little to say about these works or the craft of writing, besides a few biographical details easily found on Wikipedia, I don't see the point. Its like reading a haunted walking tour.

I'm profoundly struggling to finish this book, in fact, it feels like Bazterrica is daring me to put it down, and stop carrying the weight of all the world's grief at once, in one dirty little package. Its beautiful, its a beautiful work of fiction, and I cannot stand that I know where this story is going, because the dread is too heavy. I feel like a child about to find out that Old Yeller dies at the end.
