Perhaps it’s me that’s different, though. Grayson might be the same, but I’m no longer looking at him and only seeing a friend. I’m looking at him and imagining what it might be like to have a partner. I might be confused about a lot of things, but that’s one thing that’s now crystal clear. I want that with him.

“What did he say to you?” He sounds angry, though I don’t think it’s directed at me.

“No, Corwin, it’s not. Whatever he said to you made you physically ill. Don’t answer next time he calls.”

Ilya laughed, then stood and extended his hand to Scott. “You are a good guy, Hunter.” When Scott took his hand, Ilya pulled Scott to his feet and, without really thinking about it, wrapped him in a hug. Scott let out a surprised-sounding “Oh,” when his enormous body collided with Ilya’s.
“Well,” Shane said. “There’s something I never thought I’d see.”
Scott laughed and stepped out of the embrace.
