I felt equal amounts of pity and disgust while reading this one. Great horror novel.

Ha you guys are great. Some of you were worried since I haven't been reading/posting reviews as much. I hit a whole readers slump after King Sorrow. Sometimes a bad book can just break you and you can't get through a lot. I was struggling. Hopefully past that period. But will still DNF a book if I am not at least enjoying how aggravating it is to me while reading haha. I have to feel something.

Really loved this one. Five stars. It all came together in the end and I loved the love of horror writers and other cultures that is evoked in this one.

This is probably one of my favorites of Moreno-Garcia thus far. It's really good. I really haven't liked the last couple. I am enjoying Minerva, Alba, and now Bethany's POVs. I have my theories about some of the story-lines. Curious if I am right.

I’m gonna have to like think through the rating on this one because I do like the overall plot, but I feel like the character of Waldo was way too young with what we were getting towards the ladder part of the book. And it just didn’t feel very realistic. I did like the ending though.

This whole book feels so sad. You know how this ends for Waldo.

I get why so many people felt disconnected from this book. McCurdy writes it in a way that very much is in your face. Vulgar. And you don't like Waldo, because she's very much going after her teacher and he should know better. It's not going to a good place and you don't like anyone in this story outside of the poor wife and the hungry for love mother of Waldo. I still can't look away though. It's a trainwreck.

I have zero idea what is happening with the page count on this. I’m 20 percent in.

Only good thing right now is one of the characters telling Chloe her head is up her ass and she's not actually a great friend. I agree. She has a goddaughter who is like 2 she has never seen. Cause of shame of where her life is.
