From the first page I am taken by the prose of this author of Cold Mountain… looks like one for Joe

The writing is very good, and this is what I call a dense book, with several angles. There is a lot of talk about abortions that may keep some readers away. The audiobook is read by Cassandra Campbell, one of my favorites. There are female characters that are so well developed, all ages, races, socioeconomic levels… Not that the men aren’t great too!
