The writing isn’t bad so far, but there is an abysmal lack of pirating in this book that is allegedly about a pirate H. If I just wanted to read about two people falling in love on a lavish English estate I wouldn’t have picked up a pirate book lol

I can not take a pirate named Kevin seriously

Bertrice Small never writes very likeable heroes but jeez the hero in this is a real piece of work. His wife gets kidnapped and sent to a harem and his only thought is anger that she might be with another man?? When he literally has a mistress???

This is moving at such a slow pace compared to the other Skye O’Malley books.

Pretty strong start on this one! I love the heroine so far.

This book just now seems to be picking up after a bit of a slow start. I noticed the same thing with the first book in this series, so it must just be a characteristic of this author.

I feel like this is gearing up to be one of those books where one MC randomly decides that the other one doesn’t reciprocate their feelings, for no reason other than to have a convenient conflict between them. Really hoping that is not the case.

I should have DNFed this book but I am in too deep now. 😩

Of course Skye O’Malley has a Herculean homing pigeon that can fly 1,500 miles to deliver a message from Algiers to London.
