Very mixed feelings this far but I'm still intrigued!

I'm only interested in the Celaena chapters at this point. The witch chapters are long and seemingly irrelevant (or non-captivating) and Dorian/Chaol/Sorscha chapters are intriguing but not nearly enough to motivate me. (I struggle so hard with fantasy books.)

*Spends the last half hour reading a chapter then checks the progress percentage* So this is how it's going to be?

Ugh, disgusting. What they had to endure is simply nauseating. I think my issue right now is that as impacting as this knowledge is, it would be so much more impacting if it were written in first person and was Zamperini's actual account. Instead, it reads like an slightly more interesting textbook. Or Wikipedia page. Fact, fact, fact. This is what happened, this is what he thought, this is how she reacted...

I wish I didn't know so much about the movie already. I feel like I've been waiting for them to be POW for forever. I also was anticipating this to be told in first person, like a novel or an autobiography. Clearly, I was misguided. Dampers aside, it's really engaging now!

I'm not sure if it's the audiobook or the story itself but it's not engaging me very well.

Okay, I take it back. I've adopted the tactic "Skip the Boring Stuff" and am rifling through the the novel. The humor isn't quite up my alley, but I'm psychoanalyzing the MC. And I want to see where his relationship with Rachel goes.

The beginning was hard to follow on audiobook but I'm getting into the groove of it now.

Two-thirds of the way through! It's so great, and even after seeing the movie, I'm still loving the book. Unfortunately, my time with it ran out so I had to return it and am waiting for my third check-out request to be available.

Saw the movie today. IT'S SO GOOD! So good!
