This book is going to be very tedious because the answer to why Denmark has high happiness is obvious to anyone who doesn't deny the science, but rather than talk simply about how good life is in a white country, she's going to pull her hair out asking WHY it's different, and go on many wild goose chases of crackpot theories.

I must have missed that this is a YA book?

Insufferable

Trying to read the Bible in a year, or I hope less.

Finished the book of Genesis, that's 50 chapters down.

Much more informational than I expected.

Themes which I'm getting from this so far:

- this book is about a common type of person who wants to live their life so as to avoid all blame

- they consequently won't take responsibility for their actions and put themselves into situations where they're "forced" to do things

- desire which originates from the self is bad, only desires which are imposed are good

- media imposes these blameless desires

When I was in elementary, the teacher told us to never play D&D. No reason was given, just don't. No one in my school knew what D&D even was; it was the first and only time I heard of it. Our city didn't have a bookstore, let alone some kind of game shop. I didn't learn about D&D until I moved somewhere with Internet access, years later. Anyway, I'm still sticking to that rule. I'm not playing D&D; I'm playing DCC!

I typically don't worry about religious conviction in Western political leaders, because no matter what they say, they usually don't live like they actually believe that there's an afterlife. This is true of like 90% of people in general. The purpose of religion is to be a shortcut for passing on traditions.

The "smartest states" are determined by how much the state government spent on education.

I didn't realize that derangement had been such a persistent problem among leftists for decades. I suppose that it mostly went unseen until social media made everyone aware of their worst thoughts.

Very interesting that, not only do leftist politicians commit more crime, that their voting base finds nothing wrong with it and continues to re-elect them, whereas this kind of re-electing doesn't happen with the Right. Leftists in general that were surveyed had fewer objections to lying, cheating, and stealing. It's been alleged for over 100 years that they can't be trusted as poll officials, either.
