I think I would have enjoyed this more 10 years ago. But I'm just not wanting to pick it up and have been working on it for so long that I think it's time to give up. DNF

Damn making me feel sorry for Mr Collins is quite a feat

First impression is that this is a mix of Malice, Eye of the world, and Eragon, which I'm not mad about as I loved all three of those books.

I am physically cringing as I read

Sad to say, I'm just not enjoying this. As a biologist there are just too many things bothering me with the science in this book. I mean come on, the guy performed weeks worth of experiments in an afternoon without so much as consulting a single protocol. Nah that's just not how it works. You can't just stick something in a machine as is and hey presto get meaningful results. That shit takes time and prep. DNF :(

My friends once gave me some good advice and told me I need to stop being overly self deprecating. It's not a good look and gets very frustrating for the people who have to listen to you. Someone should have told Edward this a long time ago...

I don't remember Bella being quite the same level of clumsy in the original books (granted I read them a long long time ago) but seriously she is so uncoordinated it makes me wonder if she has a medical condition

Bella must have blushed at least 50 times already. Everything she does is described in minute detail, it's driving me nuts.

Maybe I could have followed this better of I wasn't listening to the audiobook. But the world building is too confusing and intense for me at the moment. Maybe I'll try again another time, but at the moment I'm going to leave it.

Everyone seems to love this book but I just can't get into it. I don't mind slow reads, but I'm not connecting to this story, so I think I'm going to DNF. Normally I'd give a book more of a chance but at the moment I really need to read something that I really enjoy to distract me from what's going on in this crazy world.
