So many great lines to underline! I love it when Beelzebub wants to work on some "easier enterprise" than invading heaven and that means humans. You have to laugh. We ARE an easy mark. He wants to seduce us, "the puny habitants" to their side.

I'm reading this book for the second time, post-Helene. It's incredibly prescient and I'm pretty sure that we're going to have to pay attention to how to live on a planet that is not longer habitable. My own feeling (and the author's) is that it's too late to stop the inevitable.

Enjoyable thus far. I love the last lines of the first story called "Pre-Simulation Consultation XF007867":

--- Enjoy your unicorn.
--- I will.

I do like to think of going meatless as small way to flip the bird to the industry that calls itself "agricultural." I also now feel affection for the term "carno-pallogocentricism" (thanks Derrida!). So far the book reaffirms what I already knew, even if the numbers have changed. (38 billion/year goes to the meat industry in subsidies).

Is Southern porn a genre? If so, this is one fine example.

Finished Chapter 1, and I don't really want to read this, but it's our chosen book club book. Rural Georgia isn't where I want to be right now, but maybe this book will show me something.

This is a pretty fantastic line though: "What in the pluperfect hell is an albino, Pluto?

I'm going to hope for the best.

A chilling book. It's making me so angry for things too late to change.
