Seems like a bit of a Harry Potter knock off but will see how it goes.

So, pretty front cover, misleading back cover synopsis, misleading title, lead me to believe it was a modern day, high school version of Beauty and the Beast. Ended up being a strange teenage transgender love story. So.... just be forewarned. It's not Belle and the Beast. My husband laughed at me.
That aside, not the greatest writing and I'm not sorry to see it go back to the library.

Very interesting. "Lewis Carroll" weirds me out a bit, hopefully he doesn't end like I'm predicting.

I've always had a soft spot for Isabel Allende. The way she paints such a picture in your mind's eye never ceases to amaze me. She takes you into a person's or family's life and you go through their entire story with them for decades. Loving this one so far, can't put it down. Haiti, slaves, voodoo, romance, adventure... as always, so well done. Warning, historically accurate sex scenes might be upsetting to some...

Yeah... going to put this back on the shelf for a while

Oh boy, this is pretty slow moving. I poor it down and haven't picked it back up again.

I have owned this book for a long time and for some reason or another have never opened it. Seems like it's pretty heavy already so I hope it's worth all the effort of reading it!

Ah! I just can't bring myself to finish this book! It is so slow and has none of the original characters I love, and there isn't even really any Gilbert talk which, let's be honest, is the reason I read the books :) Everyone I have talked to says "Just skip it!" So that's what I'll do.

I really liked this book so far until I noticed a blurb on the cover from Elle magazine saying that it's this season's 'Atonement'. I HATED that movie and if 'Piano Teacher' is like it in anyway, I will be sorely vexed.
