The writing is strong, but I really didn’t like the story. More vampir-ish than witchy, and I can’t get my time back. I’ve maybe grown out of the not-quite romantic, not quite scary horror tale. The gory stuff she added seemed out of place to the rest of the writing. More monster story than witchcraft. Witches don’t eat hearts and drink blood. And heads should stay on shoulders.

Didn’t finish. Awful from every angle. I suffered through almost half. Life is too short. Wish I could get my time back!’

I loved this book, as well as the first book, Skywave! I could easily see Musk, Bezos, or Branson as Amato, taking us to a moon of Jupiter much more quickly than NASA. Love the characters, and the plot drew me in very quickly. It will be hard waiting for the next one. It takes a truly awesome writer to get a 5-star rating from me these days, but Donoghue truly impressed me. Bravo, KPD!
