If chapter one had me tearing up, Xaden's POV literally made me sob. I would happily read the entire series all over again from his perspective. His bonding with Sgaeyl? Chills. And the amount of easter eggs Rebecca hid here is just pure joy.

I didn't expect to tear up in chapter one already! Really enjoyed reading Brennan's POV. Getting all those details about the dragon bonding process, why a specific dragon chose someone, and picking up on the signets riders manifested adds so much depth. The Sorrengail family dynamics are a huge highlight too. I would LOVE a peek into their family life before everything went down. More novellas, maybe? Pleeeeease!!

I'm really enjoying it so far.
The vibes and pace are still as good as they were in the first book. The angst is top-tier, but I'm so conflicted about why it's even there. Like, I understand the reasoning of both of them, but at the same time I don't?

Maybe a reread of the first book would've been better than just going over the highlights. 🤔💭

You know when a specific word gets permanently claimed by one character? Every time I see the word 'dove', my brain instantly goes to Cross Redden. So I was honestly stressed I wouldn't be able to switch gears and focus on Sean and Layla. But it actually works so well! And the fact that he calls her 'little dove' just helps seal the deal. I'm completely locked in now 🤍
